We often get asked, "What is the difference between the Classical Quartet and the Electric Quartet?" So, todays post will be educational for fans and clients alike.
Our Classical Quartet plays on traditional string instruments and they play traditional classical music with a limited contemporary repertoire. They are often heard playing such composers as Bach, Chopin, and Debussy, but can also play some contemporary songs like "All You Need Is Love" by the Beatles. This quartet is most popular for wedding ceremonies and elegant dinners.
Our Electric Quartet has a much broader contemporary repertoire. Their music is fun and upbeat and since their instruments are electric they are able to be amplified giving a more powerful and full sound. This quartet is popular because they can play songs from many different genres including pop, jazz and classic rock. They play such artists as Bruno Mars, Guns n' Roses, and Maroon 5. This quartet has recorded three albums and is working on a fourth (more on this coming soon!). Their albums feature such covers as "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen, "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay and "Rolling in the Deep" by Adele. You can check out their albums on the Audio page of this website. This quartet is popular for wedding receptions, cocktail hours and private and corporate events.
While the Classical and Electric Quartets are our most popular options many may not know that we do offer a third option, the DSQ Electric Band. This is our Electric Quartet with the addition of an electric guitar and drums. They play all of the same covers the Electric Quartet does, but the addition of the guitar and drums takes the quartet to the concert level. Most recently the DSQ Electric Band was seen playing at the House of Blues in Dallas, where fans couldn't help but sing along to their rendition of "Livin' On A Prayer" by Bon Jovi.
