Earlier this year I received this Certificate from the Recording Academy in recognition for my contribution to the GRAMMY nominated album, “The Passenger.” Every time I wanted to post about this and thank my friend Cheryl for having me on this project, the timing seemed wrong. In June I lost my dad, and then two weeks later I lost my mom. Some of you probably saw my posts traveling to and from Romania. This has been an incredibly difficult period of my life, and today is the first time I am able to sit and reflect on what an honor it was receiving this from the Recording Academy. It has been an amazing experience working with Cheryl and performing a genre of music outside mine and DSQ’s wheel house. We enjoyed working on New Age music so much that we asked Cheryl to write a piece for DSQ arranged specifically with strings in mind.
At its’ core this piece is about friendship, family, love of nature, and an energy that connects us all no matter where we come from. Being open to meeting and learning from others has enriched my life in a way that I could only express through the medium of music.
This piece we created is called “Quantum Equivalent” and it embodies this sentiment of human connection. “Quantum Equivalent” will be released September 1st, 2023 and I can’t wait for you all to hear it and experience the love that went into recording it.
For all of our Recording Academy voting friends, “Quantum Equivalent” will be submitted for this year’s Grammy Awards under Small Chamber Ensemble.
If you read this entire post thank you for your patience, love, and support! :-)
