On July 3, 2021, the Dallas String Quartet were the honored performers at the exclusive and private wedding of music legends Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton. While the famous couple originally intended to opt out of having live music, Stefani pushed for Dallas String Quartet to perform some of the music couple’s original songs and tagged them in her Instagram post announcing their nuptials to the world. Her post (featuring DSQ) garnered the attention of USA Today, People Magazine, E! News, TMZ, Entertainment Tonight and many more.
“It was an absolute honor to play at the wedding of two music industry legends. We’re raising a glass to Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton," said Ion Zanca, founding member of Dallas String Quartet. Affectionately called DSQ by fans, the group is referred to as “Bach meets Bon Jovi” and compared to artists like Vitamin String Quartet, Lindsey Stirling and 2Cellos. Dallas String Quartet was founded in 2007 by violist Ion Zanca. A fusion of contemporary classical and pop music, DSQ uses both traditional and electric strings performing as a quartet with the full accompaniment of drums and guitar. They are known for their eclectic renditions of anything from Guns N’ Roses “Sweet Child of Mine” to Lady Gaga’s “Rain On Me.” You’ll find the group featured by ESPN, A&E, The Wall Street Journal, Celeb Secrets, Good Morning Texas, BuzzFeed and prominent Spotify playlists such as Latin-Jazz, Pop Goes Classical and Sinfonía Hipster.
